West Side Arena Gains New Look

The lighting for the arena ice surface was replaced in January 2012.  The new T5 High Output Fluorescent Lighting fixtures have improved the light levels, color rendering, and is more efficient that the old existing lighting.  The project is funded through PSNH's SMART START Program has a simple payback under 5.5 years. 

Another energy upgrade completed in May of 2012 was an upgrade on the ice refrigeration system and will improve the systems overall efficiency by the replacement of the existing mechanical expansion valves with new electronic models.  This improvement will provide a more effective use of the electrical energy for the refrigeration compressors, which then translates into a lower electrical consumption, which reduces the cost of producing ice.

Last Summer the lighting for the arena ice surface was also replaced with new T5 High Output Fluorescent Lighting fixtures have improved the light levels, color rendering, and is more efficient that the old existing lighting.  The project was again funded through PSNH's SMART START Program has a simple payback under 2.08 years. This project allowed the use of a tri-Level lighting sequence.  Now one low level can be used for maintenance or general use, the medium level for recreational skating, and the high level for high school hockey.  This combined system uses higher efficiency fixtures and a the tri-level sequence to provide the proper level of light at the lowest cost.
