Curbside Collection
To comply with regulations, yard waste must be kept separate from regular trash. Avoid sweeping yard waste into the street, as it can impede street sweeping equipment and block storm drain inlets.
Schedule
In Spring and Fall, weekly collection mid-April through October. In Summer, collection goes to bi-weekly (every other week). In Winter service stops, except for holiday tree collection in January.
Acceptable Methods of Placement
For collection service, place yard waste at the street edge of your property by 7:00 AM on your designated collection day, ensuring it doesn't obstruct sidewalks or access to your recycling cart.
- Bags: Use biodegradable paper bags only; plastic bags will not be collected.
- Barrels with Stickers: Attach an official orange City Yard Waste sticker to barrels not exceeding 33-gallons in volume. Stickers are available in person at the Department of Public Works or Drop Off Facility.
- Bundles: Limit bundles to no more than 3-feet long and 2-feet in diameter, using biodegradable ties.
Limitations
- Size Limit: No individual branch or stump should exceed 3-inches in diameter or 3-feet in length, except for Christmas trees during the January collection period.
- Weight Limit: Ensure no individual bag, barrel, or bundle exceeds 75-pounds.
Holiday Trees
For Christmas tree disposal, curbside collection occurs during the third week of January, with all ornaments removed. Artificial trees are not accepted. Additionally, residential permit-holders can dispose of natural Christmas trees for free, year-round, at the Drop Off Facility.
